Murder charge laid after woman allegedly shot on Gold Coast

A man will face court charged with murder after allegedly shooting a woman dead at a home on the Gold Coast. Emergency services were called to a residence on Loder Street in Biggera Waters around 8pm on Sunday following reports of gunshots. Police arrived to find a 23-year-old woman had suffered life-threatening gunshot injuries and died at the scene.

A man of the same age was arrested at the scene without incident. He has since been charged with one count each of domestic violence, DV murder, and possessing an unlawful weapon. He will appear before Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.

CCTV released of horror home invasion in Western Sydney

Police have released CCTV footage showing a group of men wielding machetes while breaking into a family home in Greenacre, Western Sydney. The incident occurred around 2am on June 6 at a home on Banksia Avenue. Four men forced their way through the front door, demanding money from the family.

A 23-year-old man had his left hand severed during the attack. He was rushed to hospital and remains in a stable condition. The group threatened his parents, both in their 40s, who handed over cash before the men fled in an awaiting SUV. The parents and two other males, aged 16 and 19, were uninjured.

Police on Monday released footage of the attack to aid ongoing investigations. The suspects are described as aged in their early 20s, last seen wearing hoodies, trackpants, and sneakers. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
