Missing Brisbane Mother Found Dead, Ex-Partner Charged

The body of missing Brisbane mother Jana Armstrong has been discovered dumped beside a rural road west of the city, and her ex-partner has been charged with her murder. The 30-year-old vanished from her home five days ago, leaving behind her four-month-old baby boy, prompting desperate pleas from her family for information.

Discovery of the Body

Her remains were found on a steep hillside by a winding rural road about an hour north of Toowoomba, bringing a heartbreaking end to the search. “We are shattered, we are broken,” her family said in a statement. “It’s not the breakthrough we wanted at all. But it’s answers, it’s something. We knew deep down she was never coming home to us.”

Arrest of Ex-Partner

Following the discovery, police arrested Armstrong’s former partner, Dharminder Singh, who had been tracked down by 7NEWS in his final days of freedom. It is alleged he killed Armstrong before speaking to media. “I just don’t want him to have another day of freedom,” Armstrong’s sister Faith Isaacs said.

Timeline of Events

According to police, Armstrong died between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, when her car was found abandoned in the middle of a road. Singh is accused of using that vehicle to transport and dump her body. Police searched multiple locations and her family conducted their own searches, but it was a group of young pig hunters whose dogs found her remains that delivered the breakthrough.

Community Response

As officers were breaking the news to Armstrong’s family, community volunteers were gathering to look for her, unaware the search was already over. “We can now take her to a resting spot next to mum and dad,” Isaacs said. Isaacs is already grieving the death of her three-week-old daughter and now faces another devastating loss. “She’s taking care of my daughter and I’m now taking care of her son and I’ll raise him just the way she would have wanted me to,” she said, determined that Armstrong’s baby boy will always know how deeply his mum loved him.

Court Appearance

Singh will face court on Monday.
