A police raid on a unit in Canberra's inner north has uncovered a cache of drugs, cash, and Bandidos motorcycle gang paraphernalia, resulting in charges against a 34-year-old man.
Details of the Raid
Officers from the ACT Policing's Taskforce Nemesis executed a search warrant at a unit in the suburb of Braddon on Thursday morning. During the search, they allegedly found a quantity of methylamphetamine, cannabis, and cash, along with items bearing the insignia of the Bandidos outlaw motorcycle gang.
The man, who is believed to be a patched member of the Bandidos, was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with drug possession, drug trafficking, and dealing with proceeds of crime.
Taskforce Nemesis Operations
Taskforce Nemesis is a dedicated unit targeting outlaw motorcycle gangs and organized crime in the ACT. The operation is part of an ongoing crackdown on gang-related activities in the region.
Detective Acting Inspector Dave Craft said the raid was a significant blow to the Bandidos' operations in Canberra. “This seizure demonstrates our commitment to disrupting the activities of outlaw motorcycle gangs and removing illicit drugs from our community,” he said.
Impact on the Community
The discovery of gang paraphernalia has raised concerns about the presence of organized crime in the capital. Police have urged residents to report any suspicious activity related to gangs or drug dealing.
The man is due to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday. Police investigations are ongoing, and further charges may be laid.
