Boy, 5, Dies Suddenly During Sleepover in Indiana

A family is in mourning after a 5-year-old boy from Indiana died suddenly while attending a sleepover at a friend's house. Jagger Wing, described as an avid Spider-Man fan and a "loving pure soul," was found unresponsive at the home of a family friend in Newburgh on May 30. He was rushed to a hospital but later died, according to an obituary shared by his devastated family.

The cause of Jagger's death remains a mystery, as reported by the New York Post. His mother, Alex, 29, revealed that the family has a history of underlying heart conditions, but doctors are still working to determine what led to the tragedy.

Alex said Jagger had been playing with his friend just hours before he was found unresponsive. "He had played hard outside," she told WCTV. "He was with his friends. He was staying the night at a friend's house when it happened. My best friend of 17 years and I can’t imagine that feeling and situation. I hate that I wasn’t there."

Jagger has been remembered by family and friends as "a beautiful, energetic, loving, caring, and pure soul" with a passion for Spider-Man. In an online obituary, the family wrote: "Jagger was a lover. He loved his family, his friends and all animals. Jagger was a sweet, kind, caring, energetic and enthusiastic boy. There was not a friend he could not make."

The young boy was due to start kindergarten in August. He had recently learned to ride a bike and loved being active. "He loved to question everything we were doing," Alex said. His father, Damon, 31, recalled Jagger's enthusiasm for wrestling, inspired by moves he saw on TV. "He wanted to wrestle. There was no sitting on your butt. He wanted to try for a double leg. He watched every UFC fight with me. He just loved the game," Damon said.

Despite his energetic nature, Jagger also had a caring side, especially toward his older and younger sisters. "He was definitely a protector of his sisters," Alex added. Jagger's siblings have since been tested for any underlying heart issues, but results came back normal.

A fundraiser has been created to support the family with funeral expenses, raising more than AUD $28,000. This story originally appeared in the New York Post and has been reproduced with permission.
