At this chic tri-level coastal haven directly across from City Beach Oval, panoramic ocean views are part of everyday life. Family member of the current owners Gasparo Marsala said 20 Yaringa Way was the perfect entertainer’s home, balancing luxury and a relaxed seaside lifestyle.
“The architecture is fundamentally modernist but its direction was shaped by a family consensus around what we valued – poolside living, informal family and social gatherings, and a strong connection to the ocean,” he said. “This organically resulted in several unique features, including the spiral staircase, as well as rooms with seamless ocean and pool views.”
The design boasts several unique features, including a spiral staircase and seamless water views. “One of the property’s defining features is the way the pool and spa are integrated directly into the heart of the home, which creates a strong link between the kitchen, multiple entertaining spaces and outdoor living areas. Multiple levels also provide a sense of separation and privacy, especially between parental and kids’ spaces, while still maintaining openness and flow throughout the design.”
Double front doors and a tiled granite entry foyer reveal a versatile home office on one side and direct entry to the remote-controlled lock-up triple garage on the other. Climb the showstopping staircase to find a formal lounge boasting a balcony, as well as an elegant dining room with an incredible built-in granite bar and a curved bank of windows. This high-class zone is separated from the more laid-back open-plan meals, kitchen and living area, where double Miele ovens, a new ASKO induction cooktop and a walk-in pantry will delight the home chef. Unwind in the carpeted living room, or step out to another balcony or the poolside courtyard.
Smartly zoned behind the communal spaces are three minor bedrooms – one with an ensuite and a walk-in robe – a main bathroom with floor-to-ceiling tiling, a spa bath and twin vanities, plus a laundry with access to the courtyard. On the uppermost floor, the master sanctuary presents a curved balcony with panoramic views, a walk-in robe, split-system air-conditioning and a fully tiled ensuite with a corner spa bath, a bidet and dual vanities.
Mr Marsala said the home was crafted to capture the best of its enviable City Beach location. “Rather than attempting to emulate a style better suited to somewhere else, we designed this home around Perth’s climate – it’s oriented so strong sea breezes don’t overwhelm outdoor gatherings. It’s mostly a space that is light, relaxed, coastal, social and outdoors-y, offering the ability to enjoy the winter with sweeping views out to the ocean.”
The suburb itself is a haven for families, with numerous lifestyle amenities at the dwelling’s doorstep. “I’ve always loved that City Beach is exactly what the name suggests – a balance between proximity to the city and ocean,” Mr Marsala said, adding that inner-city access is just a short drive away. “Unlike some of the more high-profile beach communities to the north and south, it has retained a quieter, less tourist-oriented and more local-oriented atmosphere.”
Mr Marsala said recent redevelopments, such as the transformed Empire Village, had brought an excellent selection of cafes and restaurants to the area, yet it still maintained its serene coastal character. “There are multiple parks, public pools, great schools and a fantastic dog beach nearby as well,” he said.
