Australian pop icon Sia has been spotted out and about for the first time since she was ordered to pay her ex-husband a huge monthly sum. The 50-year-old singer appeared to be in good spirits as she took a stroll through the Studio City Farmers Market in Los Angeles, California, with her daughter.
Sia's Low-Key Outing
The powerhouse vocalist was seen looking low-key in a cream-coloured muumuu paired with a baby pink cap. She was spotted picking up flowers with her baby son and taking a stroll with a pal. It has been a difficult year for the chart-topper, who was in the midst of a messy split with her ex-husband, Daniel Bernad.
Marriage and Split
Sia married Bernad in a lavish Italian ceremony in 2022, and the pair welcomed their son Somersault in March 2024. They split in September 2025. The couple's custody battle turned nasty in October of the same year when Bernad demanded full custody of Somersault, claiming that Sia is an "unfit and unreliable parent".
Bernad's Allegations
In legal documents obtained by TMZ, Bernad alleged: "I am the only safe and reliable parent for our son. I am a doctor, young, healthy and have no criminal history or drug or alcohol addiction issues." He also claimed he was left without income when Sia encouraged him to quit his job as an oncologist so they could open a ketamine therapy clinic together.
Sia's Response
Sia previously addressed their split and subsequent custody battle in a series of bombshell tweets. "I'm a sober working mom trying to buy peace. I have primary custody of our son and since I am the only parent earning income I still have to pay California's incredibly high child support," she wrote. "This has been a horrific year but it taught me how to navigate incredibly difficult situations, prioritise my family and not absorb other people's negativity. 'To err is human, to forgive is divine.'"
At the time, People reported that as well as child support, Sia is also responsible for covering her son's private school fees, health insurance and various other childraising costs. In another tweet following reports that she had agreed to pay $US42,500 ($AU60,000) per month in child support payments, she tweeted: "good dads get jobs".
Sia rose to superstardom in the 2000s when she topped the charts with numerous hit singles. Despite the ongoing legal and personal challenges, she appeared in good spirits during her recent outing, enjoying a day out with her children.
