Aussies fume over Hungry Jack's inflated Krispy Kreme doughnut prices
Hungry Jack's Krispy Kreme prices spark outrage

Australians have reacted with fury after noticing that Hungry Jack's is charging more for Krispy Kreme doughnuts than the doughnut chain itself. The fast-food giant began selling Krispy Kreme treats in late 2024, but a recent promotional push has reignited criticism over the inflated prices.

Price comparison sparks debate

The iconic Original Glazed doughnut, which costs $3.90 at Krispy Kreme stores, is priced at $4.25 at Hungry Jack's. Similarly, the Strawberry Sprinkles and Choc Iced varieties retail for $5.25 at the burger chain, compared to $4.50 at Krispy Kreme. A box of four Original Glazed doughnuts costs $15.95 at Hungry Jack's, while Krispy Kreme sells them for $13.95. An assorted four-pack is $17.95 at Hungry Jack's versus $15.95 at Krispy Kreme.

These discrepancies have led to a wave of complaints on social media. One Facebook user exclaimed, "How can you charge more than at the servo? That's crazy." Hungry Jack's responded by highlighting the convenience of adding doughnuts to existing orders.

Mixed reactions online

A Reddit thread quickly gained traction, with users questioning the logic behind the pricing. "Why are they more expensive there?" asked one user. Another commented, "The prices are turning me off." A third simply said, "That's hella expensive."

Melbourne food reviewer Ange Eats also weighed in, posting a TikTok video that garnered over 60,000 views. "Charging $2 extra for the four-pack classic assorted and the same for the original glaze four-pack just doesn't make sense," he told news.com.au. He acknowledged that Hungry Jack's needs to make a profit, but called the price differences inconsistent.

Despite the backlash, some defended the partnership. One TikTok user noted, "It's a good move, especially from a business point of view. People will now get them from Uber Eats when ordering HJs." Others pointed out that Hungry Jack's has 483 locations across Australia, compared to just 35 Krispy Kreme stores, making the doughnuts more accessible.
