Allen's Inside Outs Lollies Recalled Over Plastic Contamination Fears
Allen's Inside Outs Recalled Over Plastic Fears

A batch of popular Allen's lollies has been pulled from supermarket shelves amid fears they may contain plastic. A recall notice has been served on Allen's Inside Outs 130g bags following an equipment failure in the lollies' production. The notice was issued after the failure led to plastic being found in some bags of the confectionery product.

Recall Details

Food Standards Australia New Zealand has warned that customers who have purchased the affected batches should not eat the product and should seek a refund. A spokesman for Nestle, which owns Allen's, said the issue was traced back to a contract manufacturer's equipment failure. A contract manufacturer experienced an equipment failure in their facility, resulting in small pieces of plastic being dislodged during production of the products, the company said on its website.

Company Response

Allen's spokesman Andrew Lawrey said the safety of consumers always comes first. This recall is a precautionary action, taken in line with our rigorous quality standards, he said. We moved quickly to notify authorities and inform retailers as soon as we became aware of the issue. If you have purchased any of these products, please return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
